March 83G IMSA Champion 1984 Lanier/Whittington by Spark
March 83G IMSA Champ 1984 #57
The Blue Thunder team arrived from nowhere in IMSA in 1984, but immediately drivers Randy Lanier and Bill Whittington were consistently quick. Questions were asked about the legality of their car, but all was above board, which is more than can be said for the source of their funding! Lanier was only released from prison in October 2014, having served 26 years for drug smuggling. It is ironic that the only visible sponsor on the car, Apache Powerboats, equipped the DEA interceptors! The simple livery is very smart with two shades of metallic blue separating a white nose and black tail. The front and rear of the model have excellent paint finishes and the blues neatly applied decals.

About Spark
The range which changed the 1:43 model market and for which we coined the term 'resincast'. Resin rather than traditional diecast bodies mean that relatively short production runs can be made and what might be marginal subjects become viable. Quality is very consistent with plenty of fine etch used where necessary. A huge range is the result, covering all aspects of (mostly postwar) motorsport and a wide variety of road cars. We typically see around 30 new subjects released per month and pre-orders are strongly recommended. Made in China & Madagascar.
