Mercury Montego Sportshauler Concept 1971 Black by Matrix
Unveiled at the 1971 Chicago Auto Show, Mercury's Sportshauler was based on the Mercury Montego coupe which was reconfigured with just two seats and a hatchback/pickup rear complete with Argocat ATV. Closed the car looked like a fairly conventional coupe but loaded the rear deck is raised and the tailboard fropped to forma load platform. Matrix have modelled the combo beautifully in the latter form and the two components fit snuggly together should you wish to display the car 'loaded'. The car was painted white on its debut and then resprayed in black with red accents for later shows.

About Matrix
From the original creators of the Neo range, this resincast series offers a wide range of mostly road car subjects. Some are very familiar classics but we also see plenty of very rare and usual machines ranging from Maharajah's Rolls Royces to Citroen and Volvo limousines! Overall casting quality is excellent, paint finishes usually to a very high standard and plenty of fine etch used for small trim. Wire wheels on some subjects can be a little unconvincing but otherwise very consistent. Made in China.
