The design of this kit reminds us just how good Western were when they were producing and looking at the parts it’s hard to believe that the origins of this kit are thirty or so years old. SMTS have adjusted the pattern a little with a few refinements to the body shape and the inclusion of fully assembled wire wheels and new tyres. Inside the original chassis frame remains and the bulkhead and seat units locate crisply with this and the body. A full length undertray then holds it all into the body. Four decal options are included, Farina’s British GP winner, Parnell’s third placed car from the same race and two more winners with Farina again in Italy and Fangio in Monaco. Decal placement is unclear on the instructions, but there is a small colour sheet so show nose decoration for all versions and new etched parts include a radiator grille that SMTS tell us is easily shaped between thumb and palm of hand.
