Porsche 934/5 Mid Ohio 1977 #44 Holbert by Arena

The contents of these kits are very similar at first glance and as usual Arena have cast the rear decks separately to make spoiler changes simpler. Closer inspection reveals that as well as that huge 935 style rear wing, the 934/5s also have wider rear wheel arches. The liveries on the two teams' cars are close to being exact reverse outs, the Whittington Brothers machines being yellow with blue panels and Al Holberts machines blue with yellow (though they also have red pinstripes). The Whittington 934 kit offers the car that failed to finish at Daytona while there are two options for the 934/5, the twenty fourth placed Sebring entry from 1978 and a race at Paul Revere the following year for which we can't find any information. The first Holbert kit also offers two Trans-Am race versions, again for which we have no results, and we've drawn a blank on the 1977 Mid-Ohio result too. Pretty cars though.

About Arena

Accurate, well detailed resin kits with white metal ancillaries and excellent photo-etched details. Instructions sometimes slightly vague but normally adequate. Castings on some subjects can be a little rough but more recent releases have all been excellent. Due to the amount of etch, they can be quite fiddly to build but in experienced hands make excellent miniatures. Hand built models also available to order. Made in Italy.
